The new year is already more than a week old, and lately I have been bubbling over with some comments and writing that I would like to eventually put down on paper, or on screen, but have been taking some time over the articles.
I would like to dedicate some more time to writing… somehow I am looking for that elusive tool that will help me fulfill my ambitions.
Let’s start with a damp squib. Juventus yesterday lost against a Parma side which fielded five players who are either on the Juve bank-sheet, or have worn the famous black and white jersey for some time.
It wasn’t just any defeat. It was a thumping 4-1 crushing at home, which, while it may sound bad, was actually too lenient on us. The bad news started after three minutes when striker Fabio Quagliarella crumpled to the ground, screaming in agony. The result? Ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments. This means that with a layoff of four to six months, his season is effectively over. Damn.
Ok, so in went Amauri, who hasn’t made a league goal in eleven months. He was conspicuous by his lack of help. On seventeen minutes, another horror. Felipe Melo, while being fouled, was stamped upon by his opponent, prompting a reaction. Melo kicked out and hit a Parma midfielder in the face. This guy is stupid. Obviously he got his marching orders…and that was that.
Parma increased their tempo and it was hardl surprising that Giovinco (belonging to Juve, but on loan to Parma) opened the score. At 1-0 a draw was still reachable, but as soon as the second half started, Giovinco sealed our fate by banging in the second goal.
Our goal proved meaningless as Parma scored again right from the kick off. Palladino, another Juve boy, sealed our misery with the fourth goal deep into injur time.
Ah well, things can only improve…cu next time.
